About
From writing jingles to CEO of Heidelberg Medical.
I came to medicine sideways, and went chasing functional medicine in the UK before the country had a name for it. The search brought me to Los Angeles and to Dr. Farshid Rahbar — a mentor, and a great friend — who taught me to read the body from the gut outward.
Since then I've worked the hard cases: people who are genuinely sick, with complex, chronic problems that run far past the digestive tract — stealth infections, chronic Lyme, the things a standard workup walks straight past. I'm first author on a peer-reviewed paper with Dr. Rahbar, tying GI symptoms to serological markers of chronic Lyme — a pattern we'd watched repeat in the office for years before we published it.
Dr. Rahbar introduced me to the work that became entirely my own: the Heidelberg test. I set up my own practice, Gut Rest Diagnostics, and performed Heidelberg tests for practitioners and patients across the globe.
When the company behind the test lost its owner, I took it over. Today I'm CEO of Heidelberg Medical, relaunching a fully upgraded version of the test from the Georgia mountains, where the company has lived for thirty years. I consult by telemedicine, and in person in Los Angeles by request.
